Scamp 13’

Hi, I am Hildur and I am looking for a used lightweight Scamp 13’ Scamp with a shower and toilet.
I am also open to similar lightweight camper.
I would love to find something in or near to Wisconsin.
I am a retired teacher and I have lived in the USA for 37 years. I have not seen any of this country and would just love to drive to every state and enjoy seeing everything I can.
It is just me and my dog that will be traveling.
I am glad to have found this group😊

yes welcome 2x

welcome don't forget boler, casita and uhaul getting a b/r in one is a bit hard. I have a 13f scamper and no way would I consider it!

but that is me it may suit someone else. you must know a 13 is really a 10f.

Thank you,
Why wouldn’t you consider a shower and a toilet?

I have never been in a Scamp. I don’t need much space, just a place to sleep, cook and shower. I’d consider one wo the bathroom facilities for the right price though

camper

prices are all over the place on these campers we paid 5k for ours no b/r i have seen them at 4 and one just sold for 5800.00

if you see one you like get there as quick as you can because there will be people after them.

that is why i mentioned the others also this will help. don't buy anything that has to be redone. lots of work and skills needed in most cases.

good luck in your search

bob

oh check the classifieds and the solds in the classified to help you out!

ratfur

our 13f scamper has ratfur I am like you oh that looks nasty well it has grown on me anyway. I don't see a thing wrong with it now mine a 95 it hasn't been abused such as heavy cooking. we cook outside when we can.

your are asking all the right questions now have estabsish in your mind what you dollar limit is and have your funds where you can get to them quickly.

I am 75 when shopping I have limits as to what I want to pay or what rig I want. in our case since we had another camper to sell we set 5,000 and it worked.

don't get over anxious be patient the perfect rig will come along, be prepared to travel also at a moments notice will 3 or 4 days anyway after putting down a deposit.

good luck

bob

Welcome, Hildur!

Sounds like your budget is modest, which will make finding a clean, ready-to-camp unit with a bathroom challenging. Decent ones typically run closer to $10K or more.

Challenging, but not impossible, and there's always a non-bath unit (which feels more spacious) and a porta-potty. Scamps have a compartment under the front bench designed to store a small porta-potty.

Have you verified that your vehicle can pull a trailer of this size? Scamps and other 13'ers weigh 1400-2000 pounds with options and gear. Bathroom models tend to be on the heavier side. Definitely read everything your owner's manual says about towing. It may call for brakes on a trailer over 1000 pounds, for example. Not all 13'ers have them.

I love your retirement plan, and I'm sure if you're patient, the right one will come along. Best wishes on your "egg hunt"!
