Search Box

Hi, I'm Janis and I have been posting a little on the forums--but I can't find a search box. I've heard it mentioned a couple of times in some posts but cannot find it. I wanted to look up how people decorate their TT.

Upper right corner, probably almost under "Welcome janisg". The font is white, written over a blue line. When you click on "Search", I strongly recommend that you use Google's "search site" function. It will give you better results and show you better why the results came up...

Have fun!

There is no welcome Janis, I don't see the search at all. I know I'm signed in. This is very frustrating.

Do you see a row of tabs at the very top saying:
Home, Forums, Registry, FAQ, Community, ...?

Below that, do you see a big rectangle the width of your screen, outlined with a grey line? At the bottom of that rectangle, there's a solid blue band with stuff written on it in white:
User CP, Register, Registry, FAQ, Community, ...

Search is in that blue band, to the right. You won't see an actual search box until you click on the word "Search".

Does that help?

Raz posted an image for those using the Default Skin. It's in the same location if you're using 2.0.

Yea, I thought about that after I posted then decided Janis would figure it out or ask about the default skin. I suspect most folks don't realize there's no need to become snow blind reading this forum. Raz

p. s. Look for the pull down menu at the very bottom of the page!

I use the Default Skin, FGRV 2.0 makes my eyes bleed.

I think the default skin is still around because you and I complained so much when that made the switch. Squeeky wheel and all that.

Maybe Janis is using the app - which looks very different.

But the app does not include the Google site search feature, so I always switch to my laptop when I need to search. I could go through my phone's browser, of course, but the small screen makes it very tedious.

Agreed, Jon. I rarely, if ever, use the app; so I join you in recommending the browser version, whether on one's computer or tablet.

I actually find the app more convenient for reading and occasional short posts from my phone , but for longer posts, searching, links, and attachments, the laptop comes out. But we're all different, and I'm grateful for all the different ways to connect with the great people and helpful information on FiberglassRV.

Interesting, I can't use the search function on the pc site with my Android tablet unless I paste my query. The drop down menu and the keyboard seem to clash. The iPad works fine.

Alright, Donna and Raz, please tell me how you work your magic: how do you post a picture? I'm asked the URL when I click on the icon...

You need the paper clip icon, not the globe link icon. Click on "Go Advanced" and look for it there. The rest should be pretty self-explanatory, but if not, directions are in post #7 here.

Unless you are using a tablet or phone. Then you use the app. There's one for Android and one for apple.

Gotcha Jon! Thanks a lot!

But why do I have to enter a new title when using the advanced functions or when quoting someone?

You don't. Just leave it blank. The only time you have to enter a title is when you're starting a new thread.

That's what I use--an Android tablet--and the keyboard clashes when I want to type something. I guess I will use my regular computer. It's just in the evening I like to sit on my bed with the tablet, the bedroom is nice and warm--dining room is colder (I hate 9' ceilings!).
