Does everything else still work? - tell us the black wire is on the positive battery post...
If so, tell us what charge controller you have.

And welcome!

Hi, Thanks for the welcome! Everything else is working. The controller is a Intelligent Solar charge.

found this in an Intelligent solar manual...

"..Demolition: To prevent accidents, please order the demolition of solar panels, battery and load disconnect
with controller. .."

I take that to mean you have to disconnect the panels before you disconnect the battery. Did you?

No. I am new at this. No excuses, I should have knew that it would be more involved than just swapping it out! Sorry for late response, the site is having me sign in for every response.

No problem.
Maybe you killed it.

I’d check with the manufacturer. But a blank screen doesn’t sound promising...

Thanks Zack. No it doesn’t, I’m going to have someone who knows what they are doing to check it.

Most controllers seem to require disconnecting the solar panels from the controller before disconnecting controller from battery, and then reconnecting to batteries first before reconnecting the solar panels.
Maybe disconnect the solar connections and then reconnect?
Hopefully the controller is not damaged, and also check to see if you have any fuses inline that may have blown.

Get a test light or multi meter and check that you have power to the controller. Anyway that would be my first move.

Make sure your battery has a good charge
Disconnect the solar panel from the controller
Connect the battery to the controller
Reconnect the solar panel to the controller after the battery is connected.

You always have to have the charge controller connected to the batteries first. Sorry to say, but if your panels were connected to your controller with no battery connected it's time to buy a new controller. Make sure to put a disconnect from the panels to the controller for the next time you have to change or disconnect batteries.

I dont think that is universally true, and I am even more sure that most controllers are not damaged by not having a battery connected. Some are for sure, but the manuals I have read generally say to just disconnect and reconnect to reset the controller. I would not buy a replacement controller unless I first verified it could be damaged because the panel was connected with no battery, and if it could, I would replace it with one that was not damaged this way,

Thanks for that information, I really appreciate it! I did a hard reset that didn’t take, so being in the market for another I’ll look for one that doesn’t damage so easily. Thanks Again!
