Ian,
You are fortunate to have a tow vehicle that could handle a 16/17 ft
trailer. When we got our first FGRV, I was trying to keep the weight
down in order to stay within the published 1500 lb tow weight limit
for our 2011 Honda CRV 4cyl automatic.

In October of 2013, we purchased a 2014 Scamp 13 Layout 1 (with the
54” bed). You can now get the 54" bed in the Scamp 13 Std Layout 1,
the Scamp 13 Deluxe, or the Scamp 16 Deluxe. (Wayne, our Scamp
salesman, told me that Scamp will build a Scamp 16 Deluxe Layout A
with the front sofa/bunk-beds instead of the usual front dinette.)

We probably got most of the options except for the AC, bathroom,

furnace, and awning. In October 2013, our brand new 2014 Scamp 13
was under $11,000.

For pictures of the inside of our Scamp 13, look at the following thread:
Scamp Full Size Bed = Smaller Table Size

http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ize-65096.html

For pictures of a newer similar Scamp 13, look at the following thread:
Mission Accomplished - Scamp is Home!

http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ome-65761.html

We have found that a small electric space heater is more than adequate

for heating and will consider either a portable AC or rear-window-mounted
AC unit if we need one.

Instead of an awning, we also often carry a screen room/tent that travels
either on a pad laying on the front sofa or else in the tow vehicle:

The above is just food for thought. Obviously, your needs, wants, and

constraints will be different than ours. (Also, as always, YMMV.)

Good luck on your search!

Lora, that is an interesting concept. I would make a slight change though. A few years ago there was a big 5th wheel model that optioned a "bug room". The rear of the RV dropped down as a level platform and was screened in. Luv it.

If this idea was applied to the cargo trailer you posted images of it would almost double the sq footage and offer a great ambiance to the great outdoors we are all so passionate about.

If weather permits one could slide the beds out in the bug room.

Hummmmm, you really got me thinking about this idea and a possible project.

I've thought about something like that myself, and if it had a fold-down ramp instead of barn doors, you could be off the ground and level. I'd leave the beds inside and make it al fresco dining on the rear balcony. I'm afraid my wife would consider the whole concept too redneck, though…

Maybe she'd go for a deck.

The deck she really wants is attached to a (wheel-less) condo overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

But your picture got me thinking… I have an old 18' flatbed trailer sitting out back. I could buy a Hunter, take it off its frame and plop it on the trailer. But then, I guess that brings us back to redneck...

Actually, a while back there was something like that on Phoenix Craigslist, only it was a "canned ham" on a flatbed. Marketed as a vintage toy hauler… It looked to be well-done, not redneck.

If you were to violate a Hunter, or any other FGRV in that manner you would become cursed by the FGRV Gods and all of your water and holding tanks would start to leak profusely on your driveway.

For a second such violation they have been known to use their wands to make FGRV's into stickys..... Be Careful

We have relatives in Bellingham who purchased a Scamp 16 in the last year. Give Scamp a call and they will give you the phone number of our relatives. Most Scamp owners enjoy showing off their pride and joy.
