Towing/amenities

Hi!
Wondering on a 16 foot Scamp, approx weight towing 1750 per web site. Obviously this depends on options/ add-ins.
Question: Is it possible to get a 16 foot towing weight to 1400-1600 pounds with less amenities? Thank you for your kind responses.
Do not want to buy new car
And would like a 16 footer.
Dawn

The answer is an unqualified NO...

Take a look in the general talk forum under trailer weights in the real world and you will see that a 16' Scamp is more apt to weigh 2400 lbs with "stuff" included.

That 1750 lb weight is for a bare and empty unit, with no amenities, something you will never have.

I am guessing that you are towing with a Subaru and the tongue weight is your next big issue. Tell us what your TV is and you will get some suggestions that will work, but ferget 16'ers.

Yep. Always sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Bob is right. Scamp is possibly the lightest 16' hard-sided trailer out there, and the base 1750 dry weight does not include a bathroom, fridge, furnace, hot water, AC, battery, propane, clothes, food,.. There's not much else to delete. Dry weights always go up, never down!

You will be hard-pressed to keep even a 13'er down to the weight you are looking for, but with an Element, that would be your best bet. A number of folks here do tow 13' trailers with Elements.

I believe scamp sight says 1750-2000 and they are generous to the lighter side so it will be heavier then 2000 more like 2200 with a min on extras to be comfy. Carl

Here is the link to the "Real Weights" spreadsheet:
Trailer Weights in the Real World

How many do you have to sleep and what are your other requirements.

BTW: We towed a 13' Scamp, a 13' Lil BIgfoot and a 13' Hunter with a Honda CRV with the same towing limit of 1500 lbs., and they all were within that limit and towed without problem.
