Toyota Sunraider - Ground Clearance Question

Hello New here
Doug from Oregon wondering if the Toyota sunraiders are anything worth looking into got my eye on one in perfect shape 9K problem is my driveway.

Do any members here know of a rv that can go up a extremly steep driveway that has a reveen where it meets the street? In othere words the driveway is steep and so is the road it meets

Most cars scrape going up my driveway and I was thinking prehaps the smaler Toyota with drag wheels may be ok...I had a truck camper "dont like" we prefer a motorhome and were looking at Vans/roadtrek pleasure way's etc. but WoW those prices eeek any help would be greatfully excepted here thank you

Welcome to the Forum Doug.

I know just the rig for you. We followed it coming home a couple weeks
ago. Think they had Alaska tags. Driver sat up as high as a cab over truck.
Don't remember the name but it was made by Mercedes.

Must of had a four foot clearance..........LOL
But I'm thinking it's in the six digit price range.

IN Minimotorhomes the Sunrader is the top of the bunch and is all molded fibergl;ass as well.
The 17' (1978-79) & 18' (1979-1991) have the least amount of overhang.

There is a lot to know about these before buying. Check out the <<<toyotacampers>>> yahoo group site for lot of info. BTW: Prices range will be about $1000 to $20,000. The few 4x4's made start at about $12,000

Above all, don't buy with out doing a lot of research, there are a number of pitfalls depending on the year and engine.

Carl,

It sounds like you saw a UNIMOG. These were originally agricultural vehicles built by Mercedes but were adopted by most of the European military forces. They sometimes pop up on the surplus market and are extremly tough off road machines with some MAJOR ground clearance.

Thanks David.

That is what it was. Stuck out quite a bit in this area.......LOL
The owner didn't seem to be real comfortable driving it.

What you probably saw was a Unimog. I ran into a couple from Germany years ago in Arches NP. They had one and were (somehow) traveling around the world in it. They had a world map painted on the side and showed all the places they'd been.
