Hello all!

My wife and I are interested in getting a Scamp but have no experience with trailer camping. We are looking at a 1973 Scamp 13' this weekend so if anyone has any advice we would appreciate hearing from you!
Thanks!

New fiberglass trailer owners here!

My wife and I just purchased a 2000 Burro widebody 17. It’s all white inside and out. We are excited to start personalizing it to make it our own. We want to paint it kinda retro with maybe a sea foam green bottom and white on top. I’d also like to ad black steel wheels with moon caps (currently on 13”, would like 15”). Any suggestions on auto painters and wheel purchase locations, we are in the Kansas City area, would be much appreciated! TIA

2015 Riverside Whitewater Jr trailer hitch

Hi! Bought a 13 foot Riverside Whitewater junior 13 foot camper over Easter w/end here in Canada. Including winter storm on way to NL ferry. Travelled 4 Atlantic provinces to collect it after purchasing it online.,Hooked it up to our 2010 Toyota Corolla 2 inch ball - no issues and travelled home 6 hours then 8 hour ferry then 12 hour drive home again. ISSUE: trying to hook it up the few times we’ve gone to live it out of laneway to get to our cargo trailer has become pain in the a**. Takes like 15-20 minutes and the straight coupler seems loose . Saturday finally had to put ball and hitch ON the RV and back car into hutch. No easy feat! Thinking I need new coupler. Watched YouTube video and they have coupler off camper to change mechanism. That’s a pain in butt can it be done without taking coupler off camper and what other issue might be going on stopping it from having secure / safe fir? We have the lock thing it in up position and right size ball ... never had issues with out Boler like this!

ISO 13’ Egg Camper

Hi all! I’m on the hunt for a 13’ camper - Scamp, Boler, Burro, et al - in IL/WI area. Willing to drive to MN, MI or IN. Price range $5K-$7K. I see a lot of great little campers in really good shape in this price range, but they are either too far away or sell the minute they’re posted. Hoping to get ahead of the curve by reaching out in this forum. Thanks everyone!

Yep, in that price range, you really have to POUNCE. And if you are not local, someone closer will win. When I sold my Casita, I got responses from all over the SE. One was local. Guess who I called first. Imagine being a seller, and a person 300 miles away wants you to hold the trailer until the weekend. Meanwhile, someone 10 miles away can come see it now.

You should put a WTB ad up, that will get a lot more attention. And be specific on must haves: AC? Bathroom? Either of those will eliminate 90% of the 13 foot trailers out there.

Another tip is to do a nationwide C/L search. Trailers often don't show up on fiberglass RV 4 sale site or here, but they will be on C/L. Also Facebook Marketplace is becoming a major selling platform.

Impatiently awaiting Armadillo

I am in the process of ordering an Armadillo camper. Six months is a long wait, but I am sure it will be worth it!

I have already learned a lot from the members on this forum. Thank you for the shared wisdom and advice.

Can't wait until Christmas!!

Neil

Congratulations, Neil! Six months is pretty typical for a new molded trailer. Some have waited a year or more. The Armadillo has among the highest build quality of any 13’er. Which version are you ordering?

Thank you! We are very excited about it

We are getting the comfort plus model with some additions and some subtractions. We have decided on the Table for Two floor plan

Newbie wondering about a 12v vent fan.

Hi!
I purchased my brother’s ‘field find’ from 12 years ago. It’s a 1985, 13’ Scamp. I’m considering putting a fan in the vent (12 volt) and am wondering what other owners have used.

I'm aware of at least 2, Fantastic Fan and MaxxFan, both 12v models with the MaxxFan being able to operate in the rain.

Hi back.

A few suggestions... its a good idea to start a new thread with a question that is dissimilar from the topic of this thread (welcome new members). More people will see it then. But no big deal.

Agree that MaxxAir and Fantastic Fan (FF) are the two primary ones used by everyone on this board. I would go that route rather that add a fan to existing vent, assuming its the smaller standard size vent and not the larger escape hatch vent. The MaxxAir comes with a built in rain cover and the FF can have one added (which is what I did). Having the ability to open the roof vent in the rain and stay dry is the best thing since sliced bread, even if its Pumpernickel.

I would have said choose MaxxAir before the FF a few weeks ago, but I seem to recall the MaxxAir having problems with voltage variations. There are different models of both, some with added features like auto-close vents (and therefore more potential to break down).

Searching this forum will yield lots of info... I prefer to use Google with the search qualifier "site:fiberglassrv.com"
