Bargman L400 Lock Replacement Kit for Boler's
Bargman L400 Lock Replacement Kit for Boler's
I know many owners are having troubles with their aging Bargman L400 and Lyster 20-213 / 20-214 door locks found on 1975 through 1988 Boler's. I have developed a complete lock replacement kit that replaces the original lock with a modern Bauer RV door lock set at a fraction of the price that used Bargman locks are selling for on Ebay. The Bauer door lock is a very high quality door lock that incorporates a deadbolt for added security.
Our kit includes everything you will need for the average installation
Our complete kit includes:
1 – Bauer Door lock, packaged (White or Chrome)
1 – Inner Aluminum Adapter Plate
1 – Outer Aluminum Adapter Plate
1 – Aluminum Striker Plate
2 – #8-32x½” Pan Head Machine Screws
4 – #8-32x¾” Pan Head Machine Screws
4 – #8-32×1” Pan Head Machine Screws
2 – #10-24x¾” Flat Head Machine Screws
2 – #10 Flat Washers
2 – #10-24 Nuts
6 – ⅛” Aluminum Rivets
1 roll – Butyl Sealing Tape
1 pair – Disposable Gloves
1 – Dust Mask
Available for immediate shipping from Camping Treasures

Nice looking kit Ian. Do you think that it would also work for people who want to replace the old Scamp handles to this modern style?

Thank you Dave, I have been developing this kit for a while now and am very happy with the results.
I am working on a version for just that application, replacing the original "L" handle lock with the Bauer Lock. That installation is a little more complicated because of the different door thicknesses and additional cutting needed for the latch assembly.

I added USD currency as an options to the store
Using an online currency converter the current price of $130.00 Canadian would be about $101.00 US Dollars. During checkout the system will automatically convert the CAD price into USD.

Clearly a much better solution than eBay. Good for you. Is the L300 next? Raz

Thank you Raz
I saw designing and offering these as a way to help the fibreglass community and add some new equipment to my metal shop, I hand build all the adapters.
There is already a solution to replace the Bargman L300, Bauer makes a replacement lock Entrance Door Lock - AP 013-257 - Entry Door Hardware - Camping World

I forgot about the L300 replacement. My 2010 Trillium came with what has to be one of the last L300's made. I treat it like it's made of gold. So far, so good.
Lots of trailers out there that used the L400, not just fiberglass. I would suggest contacting Vintage Trailer Supply. You never know. Maybe you sell a million of them., quit your day job and winter somewhere warm. Good luck. Raz

Thanks Raz, I want to offer the fibreglass community first, I already quit my day job (retired last April). I do have many contacts in the vintage "stick built" community. I want to test the kit on a few of those trailers before offering it, I have tested the kit on quite a few Boler's and have had owners install them to make sure they work are are easy to install, which they are

Nice work Ian. Would butyl tape around the lock-set be advised also?

Thanks Dave & Paula, it is really handy when your son is a professional videographer.
The lock-set includes a rubber gasket which should make the installation water tight, you could replace this gasket with a "thin" application of butyl tape. Either way I always recommend drilling 3 to 4 small holes in the bottom of the door along the inner profile to allow any water that may get in to drain.
