It's not mentioned, but I believe that the Starfire had front wheel drive by means of using a 4x4 transfer case and locking out the rear driveshaft. With that FORD chassis it's no wonder that he has done a lot of repairs and that there are still more to be done and at only 65,000 miles.


Not something I'd want to take to a FGRV rally...LOL


BTW: I think that they misspelled their "Affectionate Name" The Space Dillow.

The ad states that it is RWD. There have been at least 5 companies that built FWD RVs based on the 455 Toronado engine and transaxle.

I don't think I would take any of them to a FGRV rally either.

I used to deal with a company that tried to restart the Clark Cortez production but were not successful.

Oh, for me the real killer is that Lincoln grill.

Looks like a lifetime project...the interior looks like it could use a little work too!

I passed on a 32 foot motor home that was in much better condition with about the same mileage @ only $1,500. This one looks and sounds like a real money
pit!

However because of the fiberglass at least it doesn't leak!

Almost All Motorhomes are Money Pits. That one sold for close to $100k when it was new, and that was in 1986 $$$ The bigger they are, the further they fall.

Whatever happens to old Prevosts and Bluebirds? I don't see them on the used areas of RV lots. You know the ones that sell for over a million dollars new.

They don't sell very well anymore. You can see a lot of them for sale on websites specific to them or luxury coaches. Prices are low but paying for gasoline and repairs IF I were in the market though for a giant used unit, I would surely consider them versus the newer ones of which I am very aware of the issues.

It is pretty obviously a mid sized Ford truck chassis, rear drive of course likely an E350 or 450 with a 460CID V8.
Instrument cluster, column, and doghouse all shout ECONOLINE... best trucks in the world and common in RVs especially the larger "C" classes, which is what this thing would be without that snout and Lincoln grille/headlights... Pretty classy?
