Another factor to consider: due to the low profile and rounded edges (thus, lower wind resistance) of the molded FG trailers, they will tow significantly easier than the Riverside Retro. Even though the latter has a rounded front, the top edges are still squared off and the 177's overall height is a whopping 102" versus Scamp 16's 92" height. The 177 is 8' wide, the Scamp 6'8". A FG 'egg' trailer will probably yield around 15-16 mpg, that other one will be more like 10 mpg. If you ever climb a long grade at high elevation in a headwind, your Santa Fe will thank you for the egg. I speak from the experience of having towed both a 17' Burro and the 16' KZ with my V6 270 HP Highlander.

Hi Mike, yes I'm a Spartan also from the Bubba Smith era.
Thanks for straighten me out on your type of construction for those who contributed.
I understand the value of the resale on the molded construction. I actually visited the Escape owners forum and used TT only last a few days on their classified site and the depreciation is surprisingly low. So I guess I need to decide if I stretch my budget on the front end or possibly take less on the bac k end on an aluminum RV.
All the best,
