Hi Jim - is it NEW or NEW TO YOU?

There are forms on the DMV website - you will have to pay Use Tax (same rate as Sales Tax) when you bring it in.

You have, I believe, [b]10 DAYS from when it first rolls into the State to get it registered. Else there is a stiff late fee.

You will need to have a VIN verification. It can be done AT the DMV - take it with you when you register it, and have the clerk to the verification. (Mine didn't do it, and my "application" got bounced back - i ended up going to the local police in our small town and they did it for free).

Check with your Ins company - especially if new - you probably want comp and collision on a new rig

Depending on size you can get "permanent" trailer plates.

Use the DMV appointment system, it DOES work.

Then, GO CAMPING!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Alan said. The DMV online fee calculator is accurate. The process is a lot easier if you have the form completed ahead of time (available online) and the proper endorsements on the title. It's even easier if you have AAA and have it done at one of their offices. I've purchased two out of state trailers in the past two years and everything went smoothly. Paying the sales tax is the only discomfort.

Steve - since I am not a AAA member, forgot to mention them.
