Proven Value of MF - Coach House?

While walking around an RV show in San Diego last Friday I noticed a used 2005 Coach House motorhome for sale at $105k. I don't know if it's worth that much but I was surprised that the company making them is still in business, especially considering the present economic climate. It's rather small by motorhome standards but extremely expensive owing in part to its molded fiberglass construction and probably more so the overall quality of build. So now I'm wondering why this RV has never been discussed here before or maybe it has but I haven't noticed. Anyway, I think it's a great example of quality molded fiberglass construction and the only motorhome still made this way to my understanding. Anyone see one? Comments about it?

They have been around for sometime the most likely reason that it is not discussed here it is
not a travel trailer. With that said they are a great Class C, well made and very expensive.

So right you are. There on the home page it states .... travel trailers. I thought all along that this site involved any RV that was molded fiberglass. Sorry for stepping out of line.

As a moderator I feel you did not step out of line. I think we all like to see whats out there. Yes this is a Trailer forum on moulded Fiberglass units, but you will see from time to time other RV,s mentioned.

Thanks for the moderation....I agree and I am glad to see and hear about the use of fiberglass in recreational vehicles in general. Most of us aren't interested in motorhomes but we sure are interested in FG construction. I often wonder why it isn't more widely used in rvs. Thanks for posting the motorhome.

I'm not sure anyone coming into this web site for the first time would understand that "molded lightweight fiberglass RV" really meant that it was for molded fiberglass RVs except for class C motorhomes. That being said, thanks for the post Steve. I had no idea there was such an animal.

Yes it is a quandry. However it's in the registration information:
"We want to build this into a place that welcomes all owners and potential owners of all makes and models of Molded Fiberglass Travel Trailers."

It's no problem, Steve... we're all interested in a variety of things... I have a 23' Born Free motorhome that is actually a combination of molded fiberglass panels... a different approach yet; although it has a 'sticky' & steel frame underneath the fiberglass panels.

It makes a great tow vehicle for our Bigfoot 25B25RQ molded fiberglass trailer!

If Chinook is the name of the fiberglass body on the Toyota chassis, then you know the one I have seen, although it was Sun Rader (or Raider) when I saw it. Bigfoot may also have made one.

I saw one of these. The attention to detail in the fiberglass work is the best I've seen.

Is the Born Free molded fiberglass in the same sense as Bigfoot, Casita, Scamp, etc. trailers? It looks like there are more sections than just two halves. There was another Class C MH even nicer in some respects than the Coach House that had an exterior put together similar to the Born Free. See Krystal.

Chinook went out of business a few years ago, but there are still many around that look very similar to the Coach House MH's. Thirty years ago Chinook was making very lightweight models on a Toyota truck chassis, but they expanded beyond that long ago. I was just looking at one for sale locally that is a 1999 model built on a Ford E-450. The owner is claiming it has only 36000 miles on it and is asking $32,000. Pretty good price probably. It was probably $90,000 or so when new. Beautiful RV inside and out.

Steve, looks like you are actively shopping since selling your Bigfoot 17. Good luck with that!
