What is a reasonable discount on a used Casita?
13 months old. Excellent condition. What sort of percentage discount is fair on the purchase of this used trailer? Bottom line comparison meaning that I'm going to have to pay the same sales tax on a used one that I will on one brand new.
Thanks!

Taking inflation into account, FGRV in good condition selling price is what you paid when purchased it. Excluding tax.

I bought it!
Drove 2 hours to see the used Casita Spirit. It was absolutely mint and the people selling it were classy people. I'm looking forward to having some serious travel fun in this little cabin on wheels!

Here it is (I hope!) Came with about $1500 in extra aftermarket goodies and was in absolutely mint condition.

I'd remove that box hanging off the back, unless it is full of helium.

No, not in Port Isabel. Conroe.
Regarding the box. This camper had a special brace installed to support the receiver hitch box and the aluminum storage box. No way it could support hardly any weight without that installation. However, I still will be careful not to load too much weight in the box. Not so much about worrying about breaking anything but I don't want much weight back there for balance purposes.

We bought an '02 Scamp with an extremely similar setup on the back. I took off what I could and carried it home in the back of the truck. What remained, upon arriving home, was unbolted and/or cut off with a torch. To each his own but that Scamp had 200+ pounds of hitch/carrier assembly back there even before anything was put into the carrier.
Gone. But that's just me. Sold it all on Craigs and got rid of it, reducing the price of the trailer by a few hundred bucks. Again, to each his own.
Otherwise, Congratulations on a very, very fine trailer. Enjoy and use it in good health.

Just the weight of that box and the added framework that far behind the axle is a case of "Tail Wagging the Dog" about to happen if I ever saw one.
Other owners have reported just the weight of a bicycle rack with two bicycles, right against the back wall contributing to poor handling.

Robert - that's my concern, the weight so far back will have a huge effect on the tongue weight.
I too have an aluminum box on the back of my trailer, but it doesn't extend that far back. I keep it as light as possible and I have a Sherline tongue scale so I know I have 320 - 340 lbs on the tongue.
