100 Amp service

Just arrived in Georgia on our latest trip and was poking around on the Georgia
State parks website looking for future campgrounds when I noticed this

What on earth does a 100 Amp outlet look like?
- or maybe they give you 2 50 Amp ones?

I'll report back if I see one.

Maybe one 50 amp, one 30 amp, and one 20 amp. Total 100 amp. We've been to Crooked River but it was 5 or 6 years ago.

It's probably just a 50 Amp maximum supply. When you plug into the 30 amp or 15/20 amp sockets, you just don't use as much juice. Not likely you would plug into all three at once. Or, have appliances going at full power all at once.
Each outlet has it's own circuit breaker to limit the amperage output.

Holy Cow! My HOUSE has only 100 amp service. What kind of RV would need this?

I have seen big 5th wheels that have 2 power cords running to them. I assume they are both 50 amp or maybe one 50 amp and one 30 amp. Of course this would beg the question:
Why not stay at home if you need all of that!

Someone (who doesn't know much about RV hookups) at Crooked River described their pedestals as 100 amp when they put in new pedestals with 20/30/50 amp receptacles. Probably the same guy who designs most campground showers - you know, the designs that spray water into the dressing areas, don't include hooks or benches, etc...

Many parks that have been rewired now have 100 amps available at the sites. One 50 amp receptacle, one 30 amp and a duplex 20 amp

The 50A actually provides two 50A hot lines on two different phases. Very few RVs are wired to use 240V appliances, so that 50A service could actually be considered 100A @ 120V.

STANDARD 50A power pedestals ALREADY supply 100A of TOTAL amperage on the "normal" 50A plug. They have TWO hot lines (50A EACH = 100A TOTAL), a neutral line and a ground line. I expect this is what this campground is providing. That pedestal may also have a 30A AND a 15 (or 20 amp) "Edison" duplex out as well BUT, if properly wired, those services should have their own wiring and not be "tapped off" from the 50A outlet. I understand that there ARE some exclusive high end RV resorts that cater to "ultra" high end Class A diesel pushers that actually DO provide TWO 100A services (total 200A). These special places may have true high amperage, 240VAC service for these "uber coaches" (think $1,000,000.00 and up).
