Back to LED lights again, grrr

OK, my four 1141 LED (bayonet )bulbs came today.

The little spotlight/swivel bulb in the back, driver's side, was simple -- pop out old bulb put in LED bulb. It worked fine.

However, the side-of-wall mounted dome lights are a different story. When you pop out the little plastic square piece that the (non-bayonet) bulb sits in, you see 2 white cords attached to the bottom of that plastic piece. I have no idea what LED lights to buy for this type of fixture. Please help!!!

Also, my adapter for plugging the Scamp into the house came and is fine, but I need an extension cord to reach the garage. Is there a particular "super" extension cord I need to buy? (I don't want to move trailer closer to garage.)

All help appreciated because I'm very grumpy and keep yelling at my adorable dog, as if my stupidity is all his fault.

If you removed a bulb from the little white plastic chingus in the dome fixtures, please describe. Is it perhaps an all-glass bulb without a metallic base but with two small wire loops exiting on either side of the wedge shaped bottom of the bulb? If so, it's a T-10 most likely. Many flat panel LEDs come with a T-10 adaptor harness among others and there also stalk or tower types available in T-10.

For an extension cord you may as buy a good one, 12 gauge wire is best you'll find at the average hardware store.

Yes.

Limit the 12 gauge run to 25'. Harbor Freight sometimes has relatively inexpensive 10gauge cords. Another option is to buy a 25 or 30' 10gauge Camco trailer type cord (has 30amp male and female connectors) and THEN use your adaptor into a very short 12 gauge cord. There are some advantages to carrying a long trailer extension cord, one of which is you aren't tied to the pedestal by so short a leash if for any reason you'd like to be further away. The disadvantage in a small trailer is always weight gain.

Costco has a great price on a 12 Gauge cord. Note: We always use the 12 gauge cord at camp grounds. The ONLY thing it will not do is run the air conditioner and microwave AT The Same Time. Not a problem. We just turn off the Air Conditioner when we use the microwave then turn it back on again.

Sharon, as I dont have such a new trailer cant help re the LED. Do you have a manual for your trailer? does it say what the bulb number is in that type of light? Without the number/type of bulb thats in there its pretty hard to guess as to what it might be. If not Scamp should be able to tell you.

This is what Scamp has to say on their site about lights:

Changing light bulbs

To change the 12 volt lamps, remove the cover by gently squeezing and pulling the cover off. Push on the bulb and rotate to remove. Replace with the same model bulb. Push the bulb in the socket, and rotate to seat the pins on the base. Replace the cover and snap it in place. The inside dome lights will use an 1141 bulb. The double filament tail light bulb is an 1157, and the marker lights use a number 18 95 bulb.

Thanks Jack. I kept looking for something in LED bulbs that matched with 1141 non-bayonet style. I wasn't getting anywhere with that kind of search.

And would the panel shape of the flat ones use a double-sided tape to mount to the silver panel thing behind the "normal" bulb that is now in my fixtures?

The LED at this link is the direct replacement LED for the incandescent 1895 bulb described by Scamp above.

Might be available cheaper elsewhere, of course.

The 1895 is supposedly a marker light -- I'm replacing 4 dome lights inside my trailer. Does that make a difference? I mean, is there a huge difference in brightness maybe?

If there is space in the fixture and a flat surface to adhere to with the included double sticky, yes, the flat panels work well and put their light thru the lens rather than heating the reflector behind them.

I thought you were talking about the marker lights...for the dome lights, what number is on the bulb you're taking out of them? Most have a number on the base- Googling that number and "LED replacement for" should result in the proper bulb coming up.

I think the 1895 does come in a "weaker" luminescence...seems to me I saw some sets of four that were pretty cheap but not bright enough for exterior sidelights.
