I saw this: Progressive Dynamics PD9105V Lead Acid Battery Charge Wizard:Amazon:Automotive

Worth it? Or necessary for a 2011 Scamp 16?

YUP! assuming you have a Progressive Dynamics converter, which I am not mistaken your trailer probable has one ... don't know for sure what year Scamp switched to using the PD. I also seem to recall reading here that of the trailers they used the PD in didn't have the Charge Wizard model in them.... might want to call Scamp or look at the documentation with your trailer to confirm that.
