I do take it personally- but only because I'm emabarassed in behalf of my unbelievably suggestible Fellow American Consumers.

My hat's off to Honda- I've owned more than one of its products, some of them dating back to the time when Hondas were characterized as "rice burners", unworthy of consideration by Redblooded Americans. Effective advertising has mightily changed that image, for sure. This not to deny that certain of its products, at least early on, helped to win that battle. But along the way, it learned something about us, too.

The Company is to be congratulated for its really thorough absorption of the marketing principles proven so effective by American business. This of course includes its understanding of the "say it loud and they'll not just believe it but defend it" concept; the effectiveness of which can be no better illustrated by the lack of indignation expressed in this very thread about the clear deceptiveness of the advertising for its generators.

Really brilliant, actually- folks who know that the noise bothers their neighbors can assure themselves (against the real evidence) that they're operating a noise machine that's no more annoying than a neighbor's "ordinary conversation".

Nothing sells product like making folks feel good about themselves!

So, your problem is that it's not made in the U.S.A.?
Lots of luck in the future, unless you're buying derivatives.

generational training helps..............for the good and the bad.

Was watching a Nazi film last night.
One statement really stood out at me.

We take this generation by force, they will hate us.
Re-educate the next generation and they will like us.
Finish that education and the next generation will love us.

Liked my Honda Dream 305.
Liked my Honda 350 Scrambler.
Loved my Yamaha 1100 Touring bike.

Now loving my Scion (Toyota) xB....
Like my Toyota Tacoma.

Letting my Honda generator go with our trailer.

Even knowing the ins and outs of advertising,
I still find my self getting sucked in by it.
But a tighter grip on *cash* is helping me........LOL
I'm squeezing it so tight it's value keeps shrinking.

No- my problem is that, as Judge Judy so delicately puts it, I don't like it when someone "pees on my leg and tells me its raining". In short, I detest lies/deception, and am genuinely embarassed that my fellow citizens are so ridiculously willing to swallow such nonsense.

Wow, the OP already decided on a Honda. He just wanted to know where he could get the best deal.

Got my Northern Tool catalog today.

Had the Honda 2000i - $999 free delivery.

It was a 50 State compliant model.

If lies and deception come with one pull of the starter year after year, I am all in.

Yes, this is getting goofy. Now where can I buy another Honda. Love it or leave it at that.

Wonder what Judge Judy's thoughts are on politicians.

Kind of off subjct but 30 years ago when I first met up with a bunch of camping buddies I asked what brand of three wheeler brand I shoud buy. As we sat there he said "what do you see out there?". Well, all but one of 20 were Hondas, I got a Honda and never had a problem.
