fishing wires behind Scamp's ceiling carpet

I want to do some mods that involve adding new wires. Has anyone had experience fishing wires behind their Scamp's ceiling carpet? Such things as solar panels, lights, etc. would look neater if I can hide the wires. I worry that the adhesive Scamp uses to attach the insulation/carpet might make this a problem. For instance I want to go from an upper cabinet to the roof vent, about 16 inches. Should I try sliding a coathanger under the insulation against the fiberglass?

thanks for your help

john

I was chicken when it came to doing what you said about running wires under carpet, I was afraid I would burst the insulation since it sort of looks like bubble wrap. but how much damage would it really do? not much i'll bet. slow and easy is the word. good luck

An electricians 'fish tape' works (on my Casita). :)

It's like a coat hanger, but thin and flat. Sometimes you can find em in the el cheapo tool end cap at Ace hardware, harbor freight and such. This photo is of stringing wire up to the solar panel.

This is the 'fish tape'.......the round thing.

I used a small fish tape on my Scamp, but getting around those curves in the roof was not fun. Around the fan cutout, where I pulled some of the carpet and insulation loose, I used spray adhesive to glue it all back.

where's Jana?

Here I was hoping for at least one little post asking about what kind of bait or tackle one should use when fishing in their egg!:laugh

bait

Ya use fish tape to catch CARP-et. :)

==========

Added note: I agree, Pete, this kind a fishing isn't as much fun. In the case of the Casita with the carpet glued directly to the fiberglass shell, it was very difficult (for me). Took all afternoon.
