The CPAP's label is probably considering the heater is on, or worst case. The current drawn is relative to load on the compressor, so drops when exhaling. The device eases the pressure while exhaling, and returns to your prescribed pressure on inhale which holds your airway open. (inflated)
You can see the current draw follow your breathing cycle on the Trimetric.
Trimetric's are fun and great for monitoring the amount of charge remaining in your battery.
