Okay, just got back in from buttoning it all back up. I sure did tear into the Scamp.
I feel better that it's put together and with the help of ALL of you, I feel now that I likely have the trouble area identified. Thank you!

I'll keep my eye on it and should it blow again, I'll drive with the fuse out until I can get to a gathering where someone won't mind diving into it.

I'll look for you. Sure brought back Snoopy memories. Loved the Peanut gang, but of course Snoopy is a favorite!

Bizarre update.

I took the Scamp out for a ride to have a picnic. When I got to the campground the fuse was blown. I put in a new fuse and then turned on the lights, nothing.....fan, nothing.

I got home and checked my battery it was 12.25. I am charging the battery now.

When I drove home the fuse blew again even though I couldn't get anything to work at the campground, this is a first for this type of behavior.

For what it's worth, I've had a left turn signal on my trailer that's worked off and on for several years. Spent hours trying to fix it. Finally took it into a hitch shop. They replaced most of the vehicle trailer wiring bits rather than trying to find the problem. Saved tons on labour and now it works.

rewire

I keep insisting she join a camper club people eat this sort of stuff up belive it or not. Especially helping a single I think.

I have to wonder how complicated this is going to be on a rewire now with everything sealed up.

oh I wanted to ask Lisa if this has done it since she owned the trailer also?

Bob,
That would hurt the whole learning thing! Each time we help her work something through, the camper gets better, she grows in understanding what she has and how best to take care of it, and I think she is also enjoying the process of learning. She seems to be pretty smart, and gets a lot of the stuff we are looking at, and with some encouragement will really have this beat!

I definitely know I'm learning because I am frustrated and that seems to be the tipping point for me of going from unknown, to known information.

I just want to pull all of those wires out and start fresh. As I think of this scenario, the worst that can happen is I have to take it to a shop to do a new rewire if I can't do it.

Couldn't get anyone to help me at HomeDepot, so I went to another local shop.
Going to start with the worst wire, the black one had the most nicks in it. Wish me luck:

So I'm stuck. I'm unable to fish the new wire through. I had connected the two (old to new) but with a little force they separated.

First lesson learned, if you have to keep pushing and pushing and pushing on that fish line....take it out and try again. About the 3rd time of rerouting it, it worked and was easy.
Taking a break.
Trying to keep my optimism up.
I did run my first wire, so I'm happy about that.
