I haven't ruled this out. I just bought a new 8 foot long 7 pin connector from Amazon, should be here in a couple of days. I never have like that modification and the fewer electrical mods the better in my opinion.

Get one of these and put it in your front left compartment under the bench. Then bring your 7 pin cord through through the shell and attach to this junction box. Then you can work out your trailer wiring from there. This will make an easier hook up and trouble shooting from there so much easier.

I went ahead and just ordered this one. I can get it quickly and use my Prime account. If you think it's not as good, I'll cancel and get the other one:

Lisa, the junction box is helpful -- go to the site, take the name and part number then do a search at Amazon, generally you'll find it there, and will get it quickly.

this is a picture of how it will hook up -- with the wires going to the various parts of the camper.

When pulling wires, I usually make two hooks -- about an inch, then put tape around them to hole them together tight, unless you pull really haard, they usually stay together.

One thing to know with these older Scamps is when they made the Scamps wiring running up the wall they hot melt glued the 12 volt dc wires right to the wall before they put the reflectic and rat fur on top. So its nearly impossible to use old wires to pull in new ones.

That explains why I had trouble pulling wires through.

More work today. Found a wear spot. It was rubbing on the tongue.

you likely will find several things like that. As you replace all the wires, you'll likely eliminate the problem. Are you going to get your TV connection replaced with 7 pin? If you do plan on that -- set up your wire to be able to charge the Battery. Where everything comes together, leave a little extra wire so that when you add things later you'll have enough for connections.

BTW you in any of the fires?

Lisa be very careful of dealers they wait for folks like you! seeing this opening I am now thinking mice they will do bad things on wiring.

I had a problem in my house wiring the electricaian that came could ping my circuits somehow.

I didn't watch close enough but I thin it would work 12v too

just another suggestion

bob

oh the mice be very careful leaving your camper hooked up mice can crawl right up the wire to inside you trailer!

What they have is a frequency generator that they put on a wire, and a receiver for the frequency, to know when they are close, and can find it. Same way that JULIE locates wires underground, etc. Also why gas line, through it is a plastic compound has a wire running around it in a spiral. Would have enough separation in a 13 foot with all the wires in a bundle to be helpful.

I do plan on getting a 7 pin on the tow vehicle at some point.
Thank you for the tip on the extra wire.

Thankfully, my area is not affected by the fires.

The latest:

Nothing in the 12 volt system is working. I have replaced a black wire, and taped up 4 spots that had wire showing.

I had disassembled the fantastic fan and thankfully it does work, but that was only after my dad came over and had me put a wire from the positive terminal on the battery to some wire he touched that was hanging, so we know it works, I was afraid I put it back together wrong.

So bottom line is I don't know how to find any juice to run the fan. My dad touched all sorts of other wires to see if it would run and the fan only ran when it was directly hooked to the battery.

My dad isn't an electrician, I think he was just trying to offer help, but his strategies worry me.

We can't get the 12 volt lights to work either, but when he ground the bulb and touched the hot wire to it, the light bulb when on. I love my dad, but he just knows enough to be dangerous with this stuff.

It's true, my dad is very smart, it's just that electrical is different than what he's comfortable with, at least that's my thoughts. Dad is more mechanical as in pistons, bearings, carbs, all of that stuff.

He's coming over again today. He said he's going to think on it last night.

Question, is the only thing running the 12 volt system that black and white wire? The black wire has a 20 amp fuse to it and that gets attached to the positive terminal.
The white wire has no fuse and gets attached to the negative terminal.

As I was looking at these 7 wires, there is one black one in there that was cut and not attached to anything.
