So much fun - the spell checker gives a false sense of accomplishment and no software jock has ever come up with a sense checker, AFAIK. That still has to be done by reading it over and over and over before hitting the button.

The reason why I asked, is because I want to get a gen. and I am wondering the best place to put it. In the TT or TV. It would fit in the cargo area in the Rav but I do not want the smell of gas inside. I would want 2000i 1st purchase then next year the companion. In the summer if we go, we will go to elec. hookup for the air. I do not know if carrying the gen on the tongue may be to heavy b/c i want to also have two LP cylinders. I am going to go to a Yamaha or honda. Carl

Carl, before getting a rolling bag for the Honda gen, I used a very large Rubbermaid container with a thick rubber mat on the bottom. Carried it in the Rav without much, if any smell. A 1 gal. Gas container fits in the there too.

I carry my Honda 1000 in either the RAV or the trailer.
There is a lever on the gas cap that closes the vent so no fumes escape.
An extra gas container ( one gal. ) is in my storage box on the back of the trailer.

Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada
Search through this site to find ethanol free gas. The comments sometimes will indicated the price. Not widely available but may be useful. I always thought it was a dumb idea when we started burning our food (corn) so we could drive our cars.
As well ethanol is the 2 cycle engines worst enemy, like chain saws and weed eaters. Best to avoid if possible

Converted my 2000i to LPG, no gasoline or ethanol smell or worries. Starts right up, with a T on my tanks. Just an option. With a diesel truck I think it' silly to carry a tank of gas on the rig. Icky.

I do not mean to scare you, but that raised a flag with me, I myself would look for a better place. Do you remember the infamous Ford Pinto fires? The gas tank was behind the rear axle and did not do well in rear end collisions.

Compared to most of the other methods of making 120V without utility hookups, the Honda (and most other inverter generators) produce an excellent sine wave. Here is a site that shows some samples from a couple of sources.

We had our Honda EU3000is mounted on the tongue of our 16' Scamp for several years. After purchasing our 19'er, it rides in the bed of the Tacoma forward of the hitch crossbar. Ten plus years of ownership and it still performs flawlessly with annual tune ups and one battery replacement.

For those wanting to run an AC on a Honda 2000i, get the easy start module from micro air. It is a micro processor controller and reduces start up by ALOT. My 2000i barely comes out of Eco mode.

it is not cheap, but SO much better than lugging around a heavy 3000 or equivalent.

My previous trailer was a 31' and only one 13.5k a/c. A friend I camped with had a Honda 3000 and it would not run my a/c. but my 2 Honda 2000s worked fine.

What garbonz said. Not only does the smoother startup help your generator, it also cures the "trailer shakes" that occur when starting up an A/C compressor that's attached to a small, light trailer. Nothing worse than being awakened by your air conditioner when the thermostat kicks it on. Mine now ramps up to speed gradually, like my home A/C unit.
