HELP PLEASE , Trailer Wiring , ?

I need help , Can anyone tell me about trailer wiring ?
!/ There are 7 wires in this lead to car, missing plug , In middle a large black wire, then a slighty smaller white (which I think is ground ) then 5 more again slighty smaller , Blue ,Yellow,Red,Brown, and Green. On the front of trailer, next to propane is a battery ? All wires seem to go inside the trailer, except for the Blue and a White which go to the brakes.
Can anyone help me ? Any one I can call ? or do I have to go 200 Kms and pay a R.V. store $100 an hour to fix for me ???
The trailer is a 1974 Ventrua .
Jim .

Word of caution not all our old trailers are wired as you might expect. Below for example is how my older Scamp is wired up and newer ones as I understand it are different again. You may want to look in the documents center - the link is on the front page of this list to see if any one has downloaded a manual for your trailer that has a wiring diagram in it.

I know we're talking about an OLD trailer here but the current RV STANDARD for 7 pin plugs for at least the last 15 years is correctly shown here. It's also the one used on most automobiles including my 06 Jeep and 07 Silverado.
Yellow is used for REVERSE lights on my Casita

There are a total of at least 3 combinations.

When re-wiring our Boler recently I ran into that issue. I used the previously linked etrailer color code when I hooked up my lights to the breakout box at the hitch. I then matched colors on the 7 pin pigtail. I was sorely disappointing when nothing worked properly. Had to map out the functions on the pigtail then attach them to the proper posts in the breakout box with only a couple of the colors matching.

I started out the project by ripping out all the wire completely. Not sure if it was properly color coded or not, but most of it had been painted over yellow along with everything under the benches. It was old & brittle. So starting over completely gave much better results than trying to fix what was there.

.
Yup hear you that there is a standard but if someone has an older trailer they should never assume it matches the standard commonly to the car side these days.... lots of folks new to our trailers have pulled their hair out trying to figure out why some lights work some don't

Never assume the older stuff matches modern standards. My 1966 English sports car doesn't use metric fasteners - it's the Whitworth standard.
