Could someone please give me a brief explanation of what an inverter does? :conf

Hi Barbara
Inverters change battery power from 12volts to 110 volts.
Inverters come in different sizes.I have a 300watt inverter so I can run some small house hold appliances.EG 13 inch TV plus VCR or Satelite receiver.Your batteries must be good and inverter should be a close as possible to battery as posible.Other folks will jump in here and may explain it better.:wave

Converters ---convert shore power(when you have electicity)from110volt to 12volt.I am not good at explaining things.When you are plugged in all your lites run on 12volts in most cases also your furnace and some roof fans,so the power is changed for this purpose.Your wall out lets stay at 110 volts . If you have a battery charger the power not being used will go to charge batteries,if you are using lots of power then your batteries will kick in to help with the power demands.
We have on this forum some people who are really good at explaining things and they will chime in with there knowledge.

Converter = 110 to 12 volt.

Suz, that's right.

Also keep in mind that the 12V part is DC and the 110V part is AC, so there's more to the change than just the voltage.
