learning about electrical???

I'm tired of not knowing jack squat about electrical. I need to be more self sufficient and fix electrical stuff myself. I need to get my fingers dirty and solve problems when they arrive. Any suggestions on where I can gain some electrical skills?

Lots of tutorials on YouTube.

This series is pretty basic and tolerable to watch. Don't let the word electronics scare you of, it starts with very basic electricity principles..

Send a message via Yahoo to Darwin Maring
Home Depot and Lowe's both sell AC Wiring how to books. Go and look them over and purchase the one you can understand (Pictures) then refer to it when you R doing the job.

I find I learn well by spending time with people who know more than I do about something. If you can find someone to help you with a couple simple projects or someone you can watch do a few projects, it is another way to pick up a new skill.

Electronics is a little intimidating at first, but after you learn a few basics, it is not that bad and a handy skill to have in your back pocket.

For me, I find remembering the electrical stuff the problem. I don't do it often enough to retain everything. That is why I keep the following "reference book" to guide me through everything. It is simple and easy to understand.

Thanks for all the great ideas. The video tutorial link is really good. I'll look through those over the next couple days. Hopefully I'll be able to put in a solar system over the winter.
