Power cord hatch/door

:cry The access hatch where the power cord goes in & out is shot and I'd like to replace it. I'd like to stay original. Does anyone know where I can get one? I found the name of the company A & E Systems on the inside back of the hatch cover but I can't find any info on this company. Thanks

A & E Systems

I found the website for A & E Systems but I don't think they have the covers you're looking for.

Hi Randy

We got one for our 75 Trillium off the shelf at our local RV store. They all have it and Canadian Tire usually has them too. :wave Actually I think Walmart even had them. Ours looks nothing like the one in the photo Randy McCulley posted. When it quits raining I'll go take a photo of it.:wave

The Burro has a round one too. Any rv place has them, cost me about $2.50 US or so.

Too lazy to put it in yet, maybe in the spring......

My '91 S13 has the "round" one (actually a bit rectangular on the flange but round in the cutout); available just about everywhere they sell RV parts.

However, I intend to replace my elec entrance with a setup (photos in files section of Yahoo-Scamp) using the lockable door pictured above with just a 15A plug and a GFCI outlet. Prolly mount the new box vertically so the cover gives a little moisture cover when raining.

No pulling cord in and out, allowing gaps for bug entry, and 120VAC handy outside for battery charger, etc. Just hook up extension cord to plug for shore power (or inverter power from inverter located at truck battery or trailer battery) (Downside is it requires separate storage of extension cord and doesn't give 120VAC under awning).

cords

Pete,
That is a wonderful idea. I want to see your finished product.
I think would like that. I want to say it my way in case I missunderstood.

1. You have two recepticals on the trailer. one is 110 one iw 12V
2. You use a seperate plug to connect to power.
3. The 12 volt part is a little fuzzy from there.

Every thing in the shore power entry box (receptacle and plug) is 120VAC, and you can plug it in to shore power presuming you have camped on a shore with power.

For small amounts of 120VAC power, you can buy an inverter (changes 12VDC to 120VAC) and connect its input to either the truck or trailer battery (at 12VDC) and connect its output (120VDC using a 15A outlet) to your shore power entry. If you have a 30A or 50A entry, you will need an adapter somewhere in that connection.

Please note I said SMALL amounts of power; we are talking lights and little stuf like that, not heaters, coffee pots, a/c, microwave, refrigerators, etc. Just about anything that produces heat is a heavy load.

Remember that the losses are greatest at the lower voltages, so the inverter should be as close to the battery powering it as possible; this is esp important if you want to power a color TV, because the degaussing load at startup is great enuf to drop normal cigarette lighter outlet wiring voltages below the inverter's threshold and it will shut itself off.

Back when I had a TV, and before I got an outlet to clip right onto the battery, I had to go out to the truck with TV and inverter, start the engine, rev it a little, and keep punching the inverter back on until enuf power leaked thru to charge the TV. Then I could take TV and inverter back into trailer, plug into cig lighter and watch it.

hatch door

:pump

Thanks everybody! I did find an exact replacement at our local RV store, Town & Country Rv located in Clyde, Ohio. Although it was made by a different manufacturer.

Now I need to find the plastic (PVC) insert that goes along the top of the windows. I guess it keeps air and water out. It slides into a small track. I tried this all-rite website and they did have it but they have not emailed me back. Any other sources? I need these for my trillium and my 1966 Westwind. Both have the louver type crank open windows and this insert has deteriorated on all the windows. Here are a few pictures:

Window stripping

Hi Randy
If you manage to find that window stripping let me know. We have looked all over for it and the only stuff we managed to find is bigger and won't fit the slot.:E :E
