princess auto led bulbs

I just bought some princess auto 1156 led to replace my 1141 incandescent and they aren't working any ideas?

Is it possible that somehow the polarity on your sockets is reversed?
If it is that's your problem.

The outer round base is supposed to be negative and the small contact in the bottom is Positive.

Thanks Joe for the reminder to look for the easy stuff first. The battery was reversed. It all works great now

That's my question, too. Are the bulbs what you expected? I'm interested in switching out all of my lights and Princess Auto isn't far from me.

How many LEDs are they?

There's a lot of discussion about LED lights and bulbs. I switched about 8 years ago and it worked great for me. We never camp where there's electricity and we are often out camping for 90+ days at time, (30 days in spot). So LED Lighting makes sense to us along with a solar panel to keep the house battery charged.

I do however question to need for LED lighting if you always or almost always camp with electricity.

There's no harm in switching even if you're always in RV Park. You help out the park's owners more than yourself, but that's OK too.

Just a thought.

I have 1 yellow one from Princess Auto. It is my porch light. To be honest I find them to be very dull. You can see it when it is lit but you cannot see much with the light from it.

And my thought is:

While the main benefit is (much) lower power consumption, they are also cooler and so add less heat to the interior of the camper. And they last longer. While it might be true that there is not sufficient benefit to invest in LEDs if you are almost always on shore power, its nice to have the option to be off shore power for longer without going around and swapping out bulbs first. My plan is to replace some of the incandescents with LEDs and use them while boondocking. That way I save a little money by not buying so many LEDs and have the softer light from the incandescents when I want it.

I switched all my interior trailer lights to LED because we do a lot of no hook up camping.

My wife is not happy with the type of light they produce. I know there are different LED lights...some have a blue color cast to them and others are designed to give a pure white light. IMHO they all produce an unnatural light that is hard on the eyes and make reading difficult no matter what type you select. I did try them all and settled on the least problematic. Everyone will view the light these bulbs produce differently....test several types before you buy.
None offer the warm light that incandescent bulbs do....


Way too many trade-offs and higher costs when you explore the new LED lights.

I have seen LED`s that I was sure were incandescent. Quite yellow. If that is what you are after, a lower colour temp should be selected. If I am getting LED`s, then I prefer the more white coloured ones.

I am on the fence about which light I prefer, so the low power consumption wins out. I have switched to LED`s.

The problem is finding them. If you get the cheap ones from China, on ebay for example, you will often find they are not what you expect. The advertised color temp is often not right. The ones I got for my pop-up camper were so harsh a light (and not well made to boot) that I never used more than one.

It would be most helpful if those who have the "soft" / warm light type and are happy with the retailer, would post a link for the rest of us.

EDIT: I should add that I think the availability of warm light LEDs has improved quite a bit in the last couple of years.

I bought my LED's at the local RV supplier , they had a display on the wall where you could see the bulbs in operation. I paid more than some other suppliers but I could see what I was buying and am very happy with them. Considering they should last as long as I will need them the investment was small.

I bought mine here. These folks sell good quality but they aren't cheap. The cheap ones folks buy on eBay are probably culls. Components that are not up to spec. There is a lot of "dumping" in the semiconductor business. Raz

I was just at their site the other day looking around. Holy cow, have prices ever dropped for LED's. The technology is moved forward very fast. One fixture we use in place of pot lights was $60 less than a year ago, and is less than $30 for the same thing now.

Yeah but with the Canadian dollar where it is the cost might be the same

We bought them for power consumption we camp where there is no power most often. I wouldn't want to read very long with them but the same could be said for the 1141 incandescent ones. The light they emit is a little blueish but thats better than being in the dark because you drained your battery.(Haven't got the solar panel yet)They are worth the cost, if you can get them on sale it really helps.
