Power poles are suitable for things that need to be reconfigured like radio equipment.

I agree with much what was said about crimp connectors and liquid electrical tape. These work great for connecting wires to devices like lamps or brakes.

One area I find interesting is power distribution. Wago terminals which use DIN rails.

This is the state if the art in yacht wiring and what I 'd use in a ground up rebuild of a camper.
