Question: Charge Controller to Batteries

I have 2 batteries connected in parallel.

The cables coming from the charge controller will come through a hole I just drilled on the left side of the batteries near the top. Can both wires be connected to the battery on the left? I'm assuming as long as I connect negative to negative and positive to positive, it doesn't make any difference which battery I connect to.

I agree with your reasoning.

Yes it will work as long as you connect positive to positive and negative to negative. Now for yabut. It is recommended though not necessary that connection from a multiple battery system be made cross battery. That is negative one one of batteries in the case of two batteries and positive on the other battery. This would be true for both charging and powering the trailer. The reason is that if becomes much more obvious if the connection between the batteries fail. Otherwise it doesn't matter.

Thanks. In the pictures I have found, they were usually connected cross battery, but I didn't think it had to be that way. Byron, your explanation makes perfect sense. If I can go cross battery, I will, but my cables may not be quite long enough.
