While in Arizona over the Xmas holiday I noticed a unit with not only solar panels but an electic windmill generator. Does anyone have any information or a line on these for a trailer?

Cheers,
David

They sure are neat. You see them on many sailboats. This Rv'er uses a 12 Volt/200 Watt AirBreeze Wind Turbine, the most powerful wind generator in its class.

I am in the process of adding a wind turbine to my setup. Instead of something as large as the AirBreeze, I am evaluating 2 Vertical Air Turbine designs - Ampair Dolphin and a Four Seasons VAT. They do not produce as much power as the standard design but since my power requirements are low (all LED lighting, a satellite radio, and a security camera) it with the solar panels will provide more than enough power to keep my 3 batteries topped off. I like the VAT design because of its small footprint and ease of assembly. No fancy setup. Just mount the turbine on the top of a 3 piece 2" OD aluminium flag pole strapped to a mount on the rear bumper.

Cool

this whole idea of wind turbine is extremely interesting to me. we have no shore power at our lot where we spend most of the summer. the cost quoted by the power company---we will requre them to bring poles around the corner on the road---is $4000.
this is ludicrous to us! we are seriously looking into both solar and wind power as permanent setups but would also entertain the idea of wind turbine for our trillium outback but hadn't known one existed. thanks so much for this lead!

If you haven't read it, I like the magazine "Home Power", homepower.com. It has information for off grid living and much of it can be applied to RV's.
Is the nuclear power plant still operating between St. Stphen and St. John?

Hope the reference is of some help. And thanks for the info.
If you poke around in my family tree enough you find that I am almost as much a Maritimer as I am a New Englander. My first trip to my Great Grand Parents farm outside of St. Stephen was when I was about 2 months old.
Good Luck with your project.

if anyone is interested two young ladies are doing a solo sailing circumnavigation, nonstop. They carry all their food and fuel for nonstop around the world. 16 year old abby just started today. Jessica watson departed Australia a while back. I have enjoyed following their progress.
