water filtration

I've seen some discussion in my forum search that has refered to point-of-use water filtering. I'm considering this exterior filter kit and/or this in-line filter. Of course, after spending three days on plumbing, I'm not sure about this alleged "quick connect" fitting alluded to in the inline filter.

What do you use?

Anyone know how the inline filters work with the hand pumps?
