Water pump

New to me 1990 Scamp 16. I was D winterizing it when the on-demand pump operated a few times and then no longer would operate. It was original so we got a new one. Just went to try the new one and it has done the same thing. Worked for about 30 seconds and now will not come on again. We believe it’s wired correctly. But could be wrong. What could the problem be?

Low voltage? What is the reading on your meter? Bad connection somewhere in wiring?

For the short time the pump runs, is the water flow normal (not restricted)? Is the screen clear? Run it with the pipe output disconnected and filling a bucket.. does it still stop?

Check the switch on the cabinet, it commonly comes unplugged or fails.
Also, during the time it runs I assume you have a faucet open and water runs? If not, you should know that the pump automatically shuts down when the line reaches full pressure.

Really? A design defect? Or perhaps poor quality control or inferior components? That does not sound like Scamp!

Anyway that all goes back to my original comment...

Which is still my best guess and the first area I would troubleshoot. I would check for power at the pump when its on but not running, then work backwards along the wiring path, to the switch and eventually the fuse-block, until you find the problem.

If you do have power at the pump and its not running, then go to plan B.

Make sure of the power connections at the pump are actually correct in case the pump is directional.

Water pump solved!

I had to put it a new ground wire from converter to pump. Now all is working, water wise anyway!!
