I am winterizing my camper and need to find whatever I am looking for to bypass the hot water heater when adding the antifreeze. Anyone know where that thingie is that goes from horizontal to vertical??

THANKS, I already did look there.
I am thinking the one place I did not look is under my bed INSIDE the trailer. Hopefully it will be INSIDE the camper when I pull the bed apart and haul everything underneath that bed out tomorrow.
Does that sound like where I should be looking?

I suppose it would matter how the lines are run, but either way you want the shut-off to "look" like it's blocking the line...in my trailer that means the handle is turned perpendicular to the line.

Karalyn, the water heater may be located under one of the dinette seats, although the freshwater tank is usually located under one of the dinette seats, and the other is generally storage. That may not be the case in a Casita though. The valve(s) will be located on the back of the water heater. The water heater can be located inside, of course, by finding the location along the trailer outside, and then looking in the interior cabinetry that covers that location. Once you've located the plumbing on the back of the water heater, the valve (or valves, there may be up to three) should be easy to find. They may have single levers, or water valve style handles. They may be plastic or brass.

Good luck!

Roger

Karalyn. Your Casita has an access door on the inside side of the street-side back bench. (If you don't ever set up the big dinette table, then, yes, it's under your bed.) If you can get to and open the access door, look for the bypass on the water line just prior to its entry into the water heater. It's at the top of the space, and the access door is probably just barely big enough for you to get to it; but it should work... If not, you can also find it by moving your mattress and going in from the top of the bench (remove the cubby board).

Sorry I didn't see your question sooner.

its under the driverside bench and you get at it from the door just past the electrical panel.
looks like 3 pipes meeting with a brass looking piece in the middle. the valve hadle may not be seen as it is on the outward side of where you are looking in at. it points down when not bypassed and hozizontal when bypassed

My trailer does not have a water heater bypass. Since I've bought it new 6 years ago, I've filled the water heater (and rest of the plumbing) with non-toxic RV anti freeze. This year I'll be trying something different to winterize the trailer, and I will detail the procedure once winterization is complete.

I found the bypass switch. I crawled under the bed got that turned east to west, so now I need to find the pump hose to fill all the lines. Wish me luck.
