The U-Haul Camper was produced 1984-1985 by the subsidiary company of U-Haul called Rec-Vee World. This line was removed from service in 1992, and trailers still in service were sold to the public.

The Compact line was manufactured in Chatsworth, CA (in the San Fernando Valley) by Hunter Structures. Two models, the "Jr." and the "II," were both 13 ft., with rear door and a roof section that lowered for towing. The II was better equipped (with water heater, furnace, toilet, and 3-way refrigerator) and was built later. They came in a "rainbow of colors": Light Blue, Pastel Pink, Yellow, Lime Green, Red, and Tan.
