We have had both a 19 and now a 21 Escape. We find the 21 more comfortable inside due to the wider width, the extra two feet in length makes for a lot more counter space and more storage. The 21 also has a considerably larger bath. Towing one is not much different from the other. We tow with a Toyota Highlander. The 21 pulls the mileage down about 3/4 to 1 mile per gallon from about 14 to 13 from the 19. If I were you I’d make every effort to tour a 21 before deciding. You’re right about the money being about the same overall. If your tow rig is rated at 500 lbs tongue weight and 5,000 lbs tow capacity you’ll have no problem with either one.
