I think you are well stated in leaving the "modification" route alone.
I am a retired RVIA certified tech and had done some pre-delivery inspections in the past- I live in Tucson AZ. So, the inspection might be reasonable in price, the service call would be astronomical! haha!
There is an option-Camping World will do an inspection.
The only thing they could not test was the refrigerator- that needs to operate for 12 hours to be sure the cooling coil and related operations are good.
2 things to watch/smell for:
1. Yellowish powder in the back of refrigerator unit-cooling coil will need replacement
2. If you smell ammonia like odor, same thing replace coil.
Either way a little costly depending on size of refrigerator. Something to consider if the unit has failed, compare cost of a new refrigerator to the repair.
Periodically Camping World offers an inexpensive installation if you purchase the appliance from them- this is a great bargain! They will get it right.
