hi bob--we have stayed in florida state parks and quite liked them---but they often require reservations much in advance. however, we have also stayed (and have friends presently there) at the international RV park in daytona. it's got 2 pools and a wonderful rec center with lots of activites. the owners, sean and dave, are very accomodating. there are lots of snowbirds there and generally, we have found the people very friendly. if you speak to sean and especially if you pay cash and stay more than a few days, he is incredibly flexible on his prices!. it's not the state park-style of camping, but it is accessible to just about everything and is very clean and well kept. i know it all depends on one's preferred style of camping, but this would be a spot to use as a base while you look/check out other places for sure.
good luck!!
