    With an Escape, I wouldn't panic about getting brakes on the trailer. I do think it's a good idea, but if you can't tow a 13" Scamp without brakes safely with that truck I don't think brakes will make it safe. Bottom line when towing is to keep from needing to stop quickly, keep looking way ahead, check your mirrors, keep speeds down, always leave WAY more space than you need ahead of you. ALWAYS know what's going on around you, check those mirrors. I want brakes for the unexpected, but I'll always try to keep the unexpected to a minimum. Have you towed before?

    I wanted to have brakes put in as soon as I bought my trailer, but I ended up feeling pretty safe without them. Got 'em anyway. Can't be too safe.
