Page Description: All along the highway to the north of Gallup, New Mexico are soaring red sandstone cliffs. The one place where you can get up on those cliffs and hike around is at Red Rock State Park.Red Rock State Park, with elevations from 6600 to 7000 feet and encompassing 640 acres, is a state-operated campground. Red Rock State Park, situated in Indian Country, is the gateway to Zuni, one of the Seven Cites of Cibola sought by Coronado and the Conquistadors.
Red Rock State Park, north of Gallup in western New Mexico, is the venue, annually in August, of the Intertribal Indian Ceremonial, which is attended by members of 50 different tribes from all over the United States, Canada and Mexico.
