OK, so.. I came into work today with a slightly unexpected schedule change.

(I am the shorter one there...)

Gina D. 12-08-2005 09:47 PM

This was not a change I was upset about! I work for Americas premier guitar manufacturer, and some may have guessed from past avitars or such, it's Fender Musical Instruments. (I am not worried about stalkers.. we have great security )

Anyway, we make the most recognized and popular electric guitar in the world, a Stratocaster, right here in So. Cal.. all USA made through the 60s and early 70s, and STILL made here. Yeah we have cheaper import models, but "The" guitar is still made in the good old USA, and thats what the travel channel came to see.

We had NO warning, other than a film crew was coming, we get them all the time, so I didn't think anything of it.

What a suprise to pull up to work and see this. I met and worked with the whole crew, setting up scenes and gathering things for them, including John Rattzenberger. All very nice folks and fun to work with. Most film crews are pretty stiff and regimented, but these guys and gals have fun!

I was thrilled when they let me see the Buldgy, which is actually one of 2 they go around in. The other is a larger unmarked Fleetwood that is private quarters for the star, the pictured famous one is the office and equipment van.

I was suprised they did no mods, it's a regular Fleetwood Buldgy that they use the bedroom for storing equipment, the living room as an office, and the kitchen.. well.. for a kitchen :-P

I didn't take pics of the inside.. It would be rude. (Hey, yes, I DO have some limits :-P)

Now THAT is just too COOL, Gina! Thanks for sharing it with us!

I must be getting old in my old age.

I see and work with rock stars, old and new, on a fairly frequent basis, but I rarely get excited when I am told so and so will be here. Interested, yes, be not dumbfounded.

I was THRILLED to see these guys

Wow! Really kewel!!

My only brush with fame was when Kevin Bacon came to our offices to promote his CD. Yes, he has a band with his brother. I had my picture taken with him and gave a copy to my friends and family for Christmas...the gift was the fact that they were only 1 degree from Kevin Bacon.

So are we going to get to see you on the tv show?? when is going to be aired did they say??

Gina D. 12-08-2005 10:19 PM

They did not have an air date. It will probably be in a couple months. They go to several places in one area and then go away and do all the editing.

I DID suggest they go to Casita or Scamp. One of the crew guys worked on that special the Travel Channel did on teardrops and vintage RVs. He loves them. They take suggestions from word of mouth, there is no planning, just what sounds interesting.

No, you may see me moving amps or lurking in the background, but not anything else.

I ain't purdy enuff to film LOL! Toting amps ain't interesting enough, and I don't play!

I highly recommend this show. Rattzenberger visits American companies of all sizes, talks about their history, shows their manufacturing operation, participates in some way, does funny things, and generally promotes America.

Ok egg owners. Show us your Stratocasters. I own a 82' Burro, a 1962 reissue Strat, and 1972 Vibro Champ amp.

Congratulations, Miss Moderator. like an interesting day
Will they notify you before putting that segment on the air? Warn us, ahead-of-time, so we can all in unison.
I think we'll all agree, a program on fiberglass R.V.'s would be great. A series featuring different brands would be very interesting.

Have fun today, it's kind of like getting an "un-birthday" present!

Kewl!!! I dont get the travel channel so outta luck for watching the show...

Closest I came to anything dealing with any tv person was I got to go to Chuck Conners home ( the rifleman) with the shows producer son. Then got a ride from Bing Crosbys son when my car broke down between Palm Springs and Cathredral City. Stopped by his deli at the time then they took me home.. Johnny Crawford ( from the rifeman) stayed at my cousins house in Seattle during the Seafest or something that was going on in Seattle at that time yrs ago.... Oh met sonny and cher at one of their concerts in Palm Springs

I love that show! I'll be watching for it.
You should have shown John your Burro, maybe he would want to tour in one of those.

Oh, and here is one of mine. It's an odd burst, just like my trailer. Had to throw in a trailer thing...Maybe we should revive the "What instrument do you play" thread..

in your trailer, of course
