For those who still use a compass
Thought this was interesting

Compass??? Isn't that one of those things you use to draw circles? I've been known to drive in circles without any of those newfangled navigation aids.

That's so interesting and thanks for sharing.
I'm happiest when the hiking trails are well marked such as this one in Austria that tells you not how far to go in distance, but how far in hours and minutes. I never got lost whilst hiking in the Austrian Alps thanks to the great signage; no need for a compass. The best part was that every trail had a farmer's house which provided food and beer! Wunderbar!

Jim, Thank you! This was a curious and very interesting Blog! I never heard of these arrows before. This gal has many other interesting things on her blog as well, also on Facebook.

Being a pilot and one who has only flown antique air planes (my dad always said I was born 30 years to late) I just loved this link Thanks!!!!! The data says there was one in my town. Looks like I have a new mission to go and see if I can find any remains !

I like that! Messy Nessy ALWAYS has fun stuff. It's on my daily time-waster list.

Could be time to bring those giant arrows back- these yahoos might have found the right airport with a visual cue! :D

Driving along some of the 'arrow route' and trying to find some of the arrows might be an interesting way to spend part of a camping trip.

That's what I love about this club...I learn something ever day! Never knew about those arrows. Wow! Thanks for sharing.

I'd read about these a year ago and found them really interesting. I am currently attempting to learn Land Navigation, i.e. landnav, and am reading about how to navigate with a compass, more than simply reading N,S,E&W. It's a little more complicated that I thought but I find this interesting. Thanx for sharing.
