First Campout--Yosemite

Hi,

After dealing with the issues with recreation.gov, I finally got a campground reservation in Yosemite Valley for October 29 & 30.

Haven't camped there since our kids were little, maybe 20 years ago. Had a Coleman tent trailer back then, really had some wonderful times.

Now we just purchased a "new to us" 1995 Bigfoot 17. Our first camping trip in "new" rig.

We'll be taking our 18 year old Belgian exchange student. She's anxious to see the park.

Can hardly wait.

Any advice?

Try to keep it positive. I know the park is very crowded.

Take bikes! As weird as it sounds everything is downhill in the valley.

+2, I really enjoyed riding my bike around the valley. That time of year it shouldn't be as crowded as summertime. Plenty of hikes around there, both short and long. A bit farther south, Glacier Point is my favorite area of Yosemite along with a couple of the short hikes from near there (Sentinel Dome Trail is one, I forget the name of the other). Take plenty of layers!
