The second (middle) photo was my CJ in the middle of a rebuild. That frame was light channel. The unpainted rusty parts are crossmembers I added. I then trussed the frame to get the flex out of it....

Celia- Sounds like it is repairable... Fiberglass repair is not something to be afraid of (it's just messy and sticky) If there is any of the original fiberglass there, one can bond new stuff to it....
