Tow package
I had the Tundra, and think the engine was actually 4.6 Litre. And on the towing, Toyota is more worried about extreme turns and hitting the corner of the trailer on the side of the truck. There is...

How to figure this out
The easy way to figure this out is to hook up the trailer. Jackknife it to the max. Have somebody watch for you!!! Then take a tire and position is in various positions to see what fits. Easy Peasy...

Frame and axle
You have the hard part done. That is removing the trailer from the frame. My suggestion is to replace the axle and frame, using state of the art axles and a heavier duty frame. Those frames were...

Clear coating
Your car is clear coated, no matter the brand. Some of the clear coats last 40 years. Depends on how much UV they are subject to.

Downshifting on the downhills
I think the OP was talking about going down the slopes, not up. The danger in overspeed in downhills is the trailer will push and on curves, tends to push the rear end out, causing loss of steering...

How easy the truck is to maneuver in town depends on the model. If it is a full 4 door with 8 ft bed, tough. If is it a 2 door with a 8'box, that is the same size as a 4 door shortbed. But, in any...

Dealers don't want you to use air bags.
Look under most commercial 18 wheel trailers and you will see airbags. Dealers don't want to fool with the bags, but I have used them on tow vehicles for the past 50 years, and never had a problem....
