If the moulding is missing the 2nd part (that attaches to the fiberglass ) may also be missing and therefore nothing for the main moulding to attach to.
May just be as easy to calk the seam...

I used KIM household cleaner, it has a very mild abrasive that won't harm the gel coat, but will clean the chauky stuff off. Rinse it very well and then applied 5 coats ZEP, WET LOOK FLOOR FINISH....
