4th generation (2003-2009) 4Runner had the V8 option and it was a popular one (2UZ-FE).

5th generation (2010-?) 4Runner only has the V6 motor; it's the same engine & transmission as in the FJ...

Oh interesting. I looked into the older model Grand Cherokee diesels as well. I'm a bit hesitant to buy any diesel that isn't a 7.3/6BT/4BT, but I'm not that well versed on them nowadays.

Can you...

Thanks for the input on the mirrors and mpg. Having previously owned about a dozen Jeeps, I *really* like the FJ's and their more utilitarian design, but it'd really make my life difficult for the...

Yep I've tried a couple mirrors and haven't been happy, given the width of the Bigfoot. Something a bit narrower would help with visibility, but then I might complain how narrow the trailer is when 4...

I worked at Navistar/ITEC during the 6.0L abortion, and left slightly afterwards (unrelated to that issue, just fortunate timing for me). They have no affiliation whatsoever with the 6.7L Scorpion...

What was your reasoning for the 21 over the 5.0TA?

The 5th wheel setup appeals to me for a couple big reasons.

From most accounts, they seem to be very aerodynamic, yielding good fuel economy...

Yep, I'm a turbo diesel lover. In the other post I just made, the OEM I worked at was a diesel manufacturer (<ahem> go look under your hood). Unfortunately, I haven't found the combination of...

Sorry, this strikes a sore spot with me, my comments aren't personal here. It seems to be along the lines of politicians evaluating and making decisions on scientific issues.

These are claims and...

I saw another post you made regarding the 4Runners being poor tow vehicles. Do you have any source/evidence for this statement? My first hand experience has been very positive, and the only safety...

Sorry, I was referring more to the frontal area. I don't have specs on the Bigfoot 19, but I'm assuming frontal dimensions similar to the 21, as most Bigfoots are of similar height and weight. ...

Ah thanks for the education. While I'm sure it's lighter than my current Bigfoot, I wonder about the difference in aerodynamics, and subsequently, the fuel economy. Not to mention width/visibility.

Change the tow vehicle, trailer, neither?

Long read ahead, I appreciate any input folks can provide.

I bought a 2005 Bigfoot 25B21FB a few months back, and a 2007 Toyota 4Runner as my tow vehicle. Took it out a couple times so far, and...
