I have towed a 17’ escape & now a 19’ w 4runner. Personally I wouldn’t tow anything larger than a 19.

I’m no expert but if propane appliances are working then your regulator is ok. My red/green indicator never worked. Always stayed green even with tank empty.

I have a 2012 4runner. Yes you can select “s” instead of “d” then 1st 2nd 3rd. Whatever you want. I use it all the time for steep grades or going uphill.

I tow a 17’ escape w my 2012 4runner. Wouldn’t want to tow anything over the 19’ with this vehicle. 5000# tow capacity. Added air bags to rear to offset rear sag.

My mechanic’s wife had 2017 highlander. Tranny went out @ 4000 miles. Seems to be issue for 2017’s. They traded her a 2018. She found lots of info on Toyota forum about issue.

Just for starters, I had not towed before & bought a 16’ scamp 1989. Learned a lot then moved to a 17’ Escape. Tow w a 2012 4Runner. All is good with this combo. Travel solo w 2 doggies.

I can say that moving from a 16 ft scamp (1989) to a 2017 17 b escape has opened up a lot of boondocking opportunities.

Bretz RV in Boise sells propane for .99/gal! Such a deal when compared to other dealers. Believe there is a Bretz in Montana as well. Just an fyi. Other pricing in my locale 2.99-5.50!
