Got it!
The sail switch was getting hung up on the mounting bracket. Put a penny in behind the switch as a spacer, clipped the top corner off the sail and bingo! It works! Look out fish, here I come!

Thanks for the response. I just cleaned the points and will give it a try. The points were not making good contact to begin with as they sit at a bit of an angle to each other. Don't dare bend...
