Thanks for all the responses! We really like Alaska, plan to do some towing there. Personally, I like the 4WD as opposed to the AWD; I drive a 1stGen Honda Insight right now and get +/- 60mpg....

We are planning our retirements, hope to full-time with boondocking being important. How important is having a tow vehicle with 4 wheel drive?

I am very happy with the birch, too. We purchased the larger sheet at a hardwoods supplier outside of St. Louis but used 1/4" birch plywood from Lowe's for the end cap. Seems to match pretty well....

I need to cut into the fiberglass wall to install the required vents. To say the least, this makes me anxious. I plan on measuring many, many times then using a Dremel tool, mask, long sleeves, etc...
