SOLD For Sale: 1975 Trillium 1300 C$ 5,000 or about US$ 3,860

This trailer is a genuine piece of history having been made by the original manufacturer, Trillium Industries of Markham, Ontario, Canada. This is the ivory-colored version with the Trillium add-on room and window in the door. Originally sold in New Jersey, I’ve had it for 12 years with clean title and it’s been unused and in storage for the past four years in SW Ontario near London.
It’s in good shape for its age, has never leaked, the jalousie windows work, and I haven’t had to do much to it, other than regular TLC. I’ve replaced the tires, refinished the wheels and added new hub caps, installed a new water pump, put a cover on the spare, and added two scissor jacks for leveling. I have some of the original documents including the bill of sale, the color brochure, and appliance manuals.
The sale is on an As Is – Where Is basis with no warranty implied or in writing. Payment accepted in cash in Canadian dollars or equivalent US dollars. Service Ontario will charge 13% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) based on the actual bill of sale. I can accompany you to their office to assist with the ownership transfer. US buyers will most likely need them to issue a temporary vehicle registration to allow transporting the trailer to the border on Ontario roads and to cross over into the USA.
It is recommended that the new owner do the following routine maintenance:
(1) grease the axle bearings;
(2) service the LP gas lines – e.g. to remove spider webs;
(3) service the appliances – the 3-way fridge, stove burners and heater were all working the last time I went camping;
(4) general cleaning – some black spots in several areas of the insulation – the use of a gel coat cleaner has preserved the outside pretty well;
(5) replace the LP tank - the old one has expired;
(6) sanitize the water tank with a bleach solution;
(7) check the battery & replace as necessary – the deep-cycle marine battery has been kept on a trickle charge.
There are some repairs and improvements that I would be doing if I was to keep it:
(1) The front stone guard (missing on so many Trilliums of this vintage) has to be re-attached since it was blown off in a wind storm;
(2) re-glue four, small triangular-shaped pieces of insulation that have become detached from the inside corners;
(3) service the inside cupboard door latches - either replace the weak springs or the latches themselves;
(4) replace the outside running lights with LEDs (available from me at no charge);
(5) replace the curtains – their getting very thin – the seating covers are also original but they’re not threadbare yet;
(6) the plastic light lenses in the dining/bunk area are brittle;
(7) Some of the t-moldings that conceal the insulation seams are deformed and should be replaced;
(8) the add-a-room tent fabric has some small holes that require repair.

Please note that the T molding can be boiled to soften it up and flatten it.

Thanks David. I recall a post a few months back about a supplier of this molding that I think was located in Ontario. I haven't been able to find it since. Anyone know about this source?

I called Service Ontario (DMV in Ontario, along with other services) got their procedure for processing sales to US buyers who intend to return to the USA with the trailer.
After the sale takes place take the following documents to a Service Ontario office during business hours:
Signed Bill of Sale - including make, model, color, VIN and sales price, which can be in C$ or US$
Two forms of the buyer's picture ID - driver's license and passport would be the best.
The ownership (same as title) with the Application for Transfer portion filled out by the seller and buyer and signed over by the seller (the seller keeps the plate).
On payment of C$23 (in cash, CC or debit) Service Ontario will issue a Travel Sticker to enable the trailer to be transported by Ontario roads to the US border.
Service Ontario will not charge the US buyer any sales tax (13% HST) since the trailer will not be registered to the new owner in Ontario.
Service Ontario thought that individual states may charge a tax when the buyer registers the trailer in their home state, or the tax may be collected by US authorities at the border; they weren't entirely sure as this is not their area of responsibility.
Service Ontario doesn't require proof of insurance on the trailer for the purpose of transferring the ownership but they advised that the buyer may be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance if stopped on Ontario highways by the police. Buyers are also advised to check with their US authorities to determine if there are further requirements for trailer insurance or any thing else that may be needed to import the trailer.

I hope this gets posted in the right place - this is my first thread and it's not easy going - by the time I figure it out I'll probably be done

Daniel
I have it in storage about 20 km north of London. We could arrange to meet just about anytime. I'm not too familiar with this forum way of communicating. I don't think they let you leave email addresses or phone numbers on these posts. Can you tell me how we link up?

By the time you add any personal items, hard to meet that requirement.

At that low of a tow rating, IMHO, you are better off with a pop-up camper made for motorcycles. I recently sold my bunkhouse camper, ~ 350 pounds, to a buyer that was going to pull it with their Camry.
